Evia Greece
The undiscovered Island
Evia is the second largest island in Greece, after Crete. It is over 180 km in length and covers and area of 4.167 sq.km and has a population of 208.400 inhabitants. On the map, Evia is so close to the mainland that it barely resembles an island. Tradition has it that a blow from Poseidon's trident separated Evia from mainland Greece.
Many tourists in favor of more popular holiday spots ignore Evia, perhaps because it is not very well known, but for the Greeks the island of Evia is an ideal weekend getaway since it is so close to Athens and offers many types of recreation such as swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing and 4x4 trails.
Evia has wealth of colors from the wild flowers, densely wooded pine tree forests, mountain springs and deep gorges with waterfalls. Discover some of the charming towns and picturesque costal fishing villages, and secluded beaches in the surrounding areas.
From natural hot springs & spas to ancient ruins and sleepy fishing villages nestled along the coastline there is something for everyone. The many monasteries and churches surrounding the area will captivate educated travelers
