Halkidiki Greece

Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) is the main tourist resort of Northern Greece, southeast of Thessaloniki. Poligiros is the capital of Halkidiki and is 69 km from Thessaloniki and 590 km from Athens.

Poligiros is a town with a wonderful climate, built amphitheatrically on the side of Mt. Profitis Elias offering its residents and visitors a fascinating view. Halkidiki is a majestic place and an attraction for a large number of tourists.

A visitor can see all around the unique growth of nature, the amazing beaches, the secluded creeks, the picturesque little villages with all the remarkable traditional architecture, the archaeological treasures and the historical monuments.

Due to countless Greek and foreign visitors that gather in the region every year. Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) has three peninsulas: Agio Oros (Mt. Athos), Sithonia and Kassandra.

Each peninsula has its own distinctive characteristics but all provide guests with a plethora of endless beaches, natural beauty, charming settlements and archaeological, historical and religious sites.

Kassandra

Kassandra is the western and most frequented peninsula of Chalkidiki. Its lovely features and its close proximity to Thessaloniki make it a favorite vacation destination for both short and longer periods.

Kassandra is also famous for its organized sandy beaches that merge with pine - forested areas. In Kassandra, visitors can tour a number of significant archeological, historical and religious sites and stroll through charming mountain and seaside villages.

Sithonia

Sithonia, the central peninsula of Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) is known for its scenic landscapes, golden beaches, impressive architecture, charming coves and harbors.

Sithonia is quiet popular with those who wish to combine the comforts of a tourist resort with relaxing and quiet holiday spots. In Sithonia there are many entertainment venues, especially along the seaside.

Agio Oros (Mt. Athos)

Agio Oros (Mt. Athos), the eastern peninsula of Chalkidiki (Halkidiki), is an area abounding with monasteries, pine forests and full of a spiritual aura that is difficult to find elsewhere in the world.

Apart from the monastic block, Agio Oros (Mt. Athos) also has towns that offer visitors the comforts of the other two peninsulas, such as stunning beaches and stimulating nightlife.
