Winter in Greece
Winter is a good time if you want to visit Greece. The best time to visit Greece is from the end of October to April. Things slow down compared to the frenetic pace that happens in the summer. It's less crowded and hotels are cheaper too.
If you plan to travel to the Greek islands, one thing you should know is that the ferries cut down on the frequency of their routes and if the weather is rough, sea travel might not be possible for a couple of days, so you might get stranded.
On the islands, some of the smaller hotels and family run hotels close down for the winter so ask some of the locals and you might find a good deal on a room. The larger hotels are usually open all year round depending on which island you visit.
Besides Athens and the classic tours to all the archaeological sites, museums and tourist attractions, Greece has many beautiful places to visit and offer a wide range of activities such as climbing, hiking, nature walks and skiing.
